Hey all! Recently I did a really awesome ride that I want to
tell you about! The ride was up in Tahoe, California, starting in Incline.
The
ride starts with 6 miles of road climbing, but it was not too hard, and well
worth it. Then we hit the single track (Tahoe Rim Trail), and that was awesome.
Imagine really nice mountain dirt, not too dry, but without puddles, thin powder
just deep enough to drift if you want, but not overly loose, with little
patches of snow here and there. Then add beautiful views, and epic natural
obstacles and drops and kickers, made from large, grippy volcanic rocks. There
were also epic, technical rock-steps on the climbs, not obscenely hard, but
difficult enough that there was a definite feeling of accomplishment when you
cleaned them. I cannot get over how much fun this trail was.
The weather was
perfect, and this type of trail continued for a little less than 20 miles,
before reaching an overlook over Lake Marlett and Lake Tahoe. Here we stopped
and ate some food, enjoying the amazing view. Then we descended down, around
Marlett, and onto the Flume trail, which took us back down the mountain to our
cars.
Now, I know everyone raves about how awesome the Flume trail is, but my
group and I thought that although the view is awesome, the trail itself is
quite lacking.
The ride was epic, super fun, and ended up being about 35
miles of STOKED with friends. I would definitely recommend this ride.
