Final Touches

Hey all! Summers here, and I’ve been busy prepping for Nationals. It was awesome to take this weekend off of racing; I had raced 7 weekends in a row prior. My training is really ramping up in the final build window, and I’ve been getting more heat training and altitude. Nationals is up in Sun Valley, Idaho this year, so there will definitely be copious amounts of one, most likely both.

Every week I'm racing the local Wednesday night Prairie City races. They're great training, often heat training, and fun courses. There's often a good turnout of local high school racers, and when that fails I try and race with the Pro/Expert adults.

I finally rode the Downieville course for the first time this Monday. That 8 mile climb is miserable, definitely the toughest climb in almost 11 years of racing. Not that it was technical, just the sheer duration. I did really enjoy the descent, my Toa rails, I was hitting everything as fast or faster than my friends on full suspensions. I don’t know if I enjoyed it enough to do that climb again, I think next time will involve shuttles. I love that bike, I can’t wait to race it at the USAC XC and Super D Nationals, it’s basically THE bike for my style of riding anywhere, but especially up there, with the steep climbs and tight corners.

Anyway, I’m getting really excited for Nationals this year. I had such I great time last year, and I did really well. I am looking forward to it so much, and I can’t wait to see everyone there! I’ll keep you posted.
